This Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Fused Item Makes Gleeok Boss Fights Easy

Jul 03, 2023Jul 03, 2023

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Gleeoks may be powerful, but they can be easily defeated with the use of a particular Fusion combination.

Gleeoks are among the toughest monsters in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but using the game’s new Fuse mechanic can make them much easier to defeat. Fusing materials can grant Link’s weapons a variety of effects, with increased strength and durability being only the beginning. With the right effects and strategy, players can bring down even the most powerful of foes with ease.

The immensely powerful Gleeoks are some of TOTK’s strongest monsters, with large pools of health and devastating elemental attacks at their disposal. For many players, their first encounter with these draconic mini-bosses will likely be the Frost Gleeok found in Tabantha Snowfield, which stands between Link and Zelda’s missing golden horse. Cautious TOTK players will try to avoid this Gleeok for good reason; one wrong move and Link will be frozen solid. But although punishingly difficult in the early game, this Frost Gleeok can still be slain with careful planning and the right equipment, as can all of TOTK’s monsters.

One of the hardest parts of fighting a Gleeok is actually hitting it at all, due to the fact that they can fly high into the sky and attack from range. Their three heads all need to have health bars whittled down in order to send them falling back to the ground, but these are difficult targets to aim for in any scenario. However, the common Keese provides a perfect solution to this problem: Fusing a Keese eyeball with an arrow will give it a homing effect, guaranteeing hit after hit on a flying Gleeok with little effort.

The homing effect of such a common material is undeniably valuable against any airborne enemy, but Gleeoks are certainly the most impressive enemy to be humbled by this simple trick in TOTK. In addition, there are ways for Link to increase the damage of these impressive arrow fusions as well; a bow that shoots multiple arrows at once will also duplicate fused materials, for example. It should also be noted that the elemental Keese Eyeball variants fuse for higher damage values: a regular Keese Eyeball adds 1 attack power to an arrow, an Ice Keese’s eye adds 4, an Electric Keese’s adds 6, and Fire Keese Eyeballs adds 8.

Keese Eyeballs are a plentiful resource in Tears of the Kingdom. Keese are found all across Hyrule in their various forms and even form swarms on occasion. Furthermore, as all Keese are relatively weak monsters, it is quite easy to defeat large numbers of them and build up a stock of Keese Eyeballs; certainly more so than other sources of monster eyeballs. As a result, Link will be able to Fuse plenty of these Eyeballs to his arrows before running out, an important factor in fighting a Gleeok effectively. Additionally, although Octorok and Aerocuda Eyeballs give similar homing abilities, their Fuse Attack Power is still lesser than some Keese Eyeballs.

Keese Eyeballs offer the perfect way to beat a Gleeok in TOTK, especially with elemental variants and the use of multi-shot bows. The various elemental Keese Eyeballs carry additional effects and can damage certain varieties of Gleeok more depending on the affinities involved, and even the basic Keese Eyeball can be collected in large enough quantities to make the difference in damage unimportant in the long run. With every arrow Fused with them guaranteed to be a hit, Link can easily ground a Gleeok in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which in turn makes defeating one of these Bosses far easier to do.
