Tourism committee chair says despite technical issues Miss CDO still a 'huge success'

THE chairman of the committee on tourism in Cagayan de Oro said despite the technical issues experienced during the coronation night of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2023, the pageant is still a "huge success."

Last Saturday, August 26, 2023, a sudden power outage interrupted the coronation night of the Miss Cagayan de Oro 2023, which was held at the Limketkai Atrium, this city.

The blackout happened when a candidate was on her way out of the stage during the pageant's swimsuit presentation.

The competition resumed after more than 40 minutes.

According to City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual, the city's committee on tourism chairman, the fuse box blowing up has caused the power outage.

"Dili matagdan nga nibuto ang atoang fuse box. So giayo pa sa atoang technical team. Mao nang medyo nalangan gamay," Pascual said.

"Na overlook lang sya, kay grabe man kaayo ang atong sound system, atong lights ug atoang LED wall. But rest assured that next year, we will do much better," he added.

However, even before the power outage, technical issues have been observed since the beginning of the event. One of which involved a microphone used by one of the guest celebrity performers not functioning during the pageant's production number.

"Nobody is perfect man gyud but all in all the program was a huge success and maayo kaayo ang atoang program," Pascual said.

The city councilor assured that the in next year's Miss Cagayan de Oro coronation night, not only will it be grander, but they will also prevent a power outage from happening again.
